Situated in the heart of Vieux Quimper, the pedestrianised area close to Saint Corentin Cathedral, Le Petit Gaveau is a restaurant with style & charm in abundance. Ranging from the vividly decorated internal garden room to outdoor terraces and a slightly more standard restaurant setting, there’s something to suit every mood.
We visited on a busy summer weekend and had the foresight to book in advance, well a quick phone call just after 17:30 for the same evening did the trick. From the moment we walked in the staff were very welcoming, service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive and there was a great atmosphere.
We started with cold soups, Spiced Melon was sublime and the Gazpacho authentic. Main course for both of us consisted of the perfectly presented house burger which, like all other dishes, was accompanied by the delicious house potatoes (no fries to be seen).
Desserts are from Brittany’s master chocolatier & confectioner, Georges Larnicol. Amazing.
This little restaurant is popular with locals and tourists alike, it’s open for lunch and dinner and no visit to Quimper would be complete without a visit. A lovely meal and fab experience. Highly recommended.
